Self Reflection; Transformation

going into art class this year i was a bit nervous. The majority of the kids in the class had already been taking art and i was brand new to it. At first i was very shy and was afraid to be wild and bold with my art work. Now going into to the self portraits I'm not so afraid to take risks because i actually like the work I'm doing. I get excited to go to art everyday when before i was nervous and unsure. I've seen myself become so much more creative and confident in myself and my art work. I hope to continue to grow throughout the year and make many wonderful pieces of art !

Self portraits

In class we are working on stylized self portraits of ourselves. We sketched ourselves on a large piece of paper then outlined it with sharpie. Now i am in the process of deciding what custom color i want to use for my big painting. Its such a hard decision because there are so many colors. I really like this project and i am very eager to come to class everyday and work on it. I love the way the portraits look rafter they've been inked and colored in with colored pencils. I like how the painting isn't such a big deal because we are almost destroying our work purposely to make it into something almost scary and haunting.  Above is one of my practice paintings. I decided on a very dark brown to use as my color. I have not worked into it yet with colored pencil. I really enjoy working on this portrait.

We just recently finished our pencil shaded drawings of fruit. This is the photo i based my drawing off of. I was very nervous to begin this because a lot of the people in class were much more experienced than i was. I had never done a shaded drawing  with pencil before. It took a little while to get used too but i finally got the hang of it. At the end i was surprised at how much i had elarned. My picture did not turn out as i thought it would. I really surprised myself.

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kassidy and i am a first year art student at HTHS. I am so excited to learn all new things and to be inspired by my classmates. I took this class to have a new experience that i have never had before. I'm hoping i will learn a lot about my creative ability in art class this year.
